Terumo Aortic is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Apprentice Sewing Operator, working towards a Modern Apprenticeship in Sewn Products in partnership with West College Scotland College.

Please note this is an apprenticeship role – ideal for someone leaving school or early on in their career.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in textiles, sewing and manufacturing, especially within the medical textiles sector. You’ll gain invaluable experience in a world-leading company that designs and manufactures life-saving vascular implants.

As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll:

  • Work alongside experienced sewing operators and production supervisors
  • Learn to follow good manufacturing processes as defined in procedures and specifications.
  • Receive extensive training to help you become a highly skilled sewing operative who can be proud of the products which you make.
  • Develop skills in quality control, precision manufacturing, and continuous improvement
  • Work towards your apprenticeship (SVQ 2 Sewn Products)

 

We’re seeking candidates who have:

  • Ability to follow procedures and specifications within stringent guidelines.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly.
  • High level of dexterity.
  • Good communication skills and can work well as part of a team
  • Hand or machine sewing experience would be advantageous (Full training will be given)
  • Detail-oriented and eager to learn
  • Ready to commit to a structured training programme (normally lasting 1 year)
