Terumo Aortic are currently recruiting for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead and support Terumo Aortic Glasgow in the adoption of, and conformance with, health, safety and environmental legislation, policies, statements and procedures. You will plan, organise and coordinate the continued development of our HSE Management System, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and ISO 14001 while meeting the requirements of ISO 45001.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the EHS team and work with regulatory bodies, Terumo Global and internal stakeholders to achieve key health, safety and environmental performance measures.
What you will do
- Create and promote a safe working environment for all associates and visitors.
- Lead, coach and develop the EHS team, setting goals and objectives that support the business.
- Establish and maintain an EHS system certified to ISO 14001 and aligned to ISO 45001 requirements.
- Propose management objectives informed by audit findings and monthly data trends.
- Ensure health and safety is managed in line with company policy, including the delivery of relevant training and coaching.
- Provide advice and support to maintain effective risk assessments and keep pace with legislative and industry developments.
- Audit accident and hazard reports, coordinate civil claims investigations and liaise with enforcing authorities and Terumo Corporate.
- Coordinate key site processes including first aiders, chemical inventory, personnel monitoring and COSHH assessments.
- Build links across professional health and safety networks, including active participation in the regional IOSH group.
What you will bring
- A relevant degree or demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- NEBOSH qualification, plus a NEBOSH certificate in Auditing and Environmental Management ISO 14001 or equivalent.
- IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
- Solid health and safety experience, with a strong understanding of workplace hazards and the precautions required to provide credible advice.
- Level 2 COSHH Risk Assessment qualification.
- Working knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Quality and compliance
You will help ensure compliance with applicable quality-system regulatory requirements, including ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, MDSAP, MDD and MDR. You will also support timely resolution of QMS actions and ensure relevant EHS risk assessments, accident reporting and hazard actions are completed.
