Purpose of the Job:
- Support engineering improvements to deliver improved yield, equipment reliability, and cost of ownership.
- Develop equipment performance metrics and KPIs.
- Provide direct line management of shift-based technicians and equipment engineers, including PMs, training, development, and attendance.
- Schedule workload and tasks, both planned and unplanned, to ensure optimum utilization of personnel.
- Act as the primary link and point of contact between shift-based technicians and the day shift organization for communications and prioritizations.
- Maintain awareness of the relevance and importance of activities performed and how they contribute to the achievement of quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the safe installation of new equipment.
- Contribute to the design and development of new equipment.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials and equipment parts, and validate changes to capitalize on these opportunities.
- Support equipment and process validations in collaboration with the manufacturing engineering team.
- Develop, maintain, and improve equipment performance-related KPIs.
- Participate in required QMS audits and ensure appropriate actions are taken in response to audit findings.
- Establish and monitor group and individual goals and objectives, periodically reviewing performance versus objectives.
- Provide technical guidance to the team, manage resource loading, and maintain schedules for engineering operations.
- Ensure key customers, internal and external, are provided the required service level; maintain close collaborative relations with all internal functional teams.
- Identify, delegate, and oversee the creation and implementation of competency assessments for Facilities Technicians and Equipment Engineers.
- Minimize equipment and asset downtime through reactive breakdown intervention and management.
- Manage key Engineering KPIs and hold the team accountable for results.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives through direct/indirect sources, parts lifetime improvement, and PM optimizations.
- Provide leadership and guidance for effectively identifying root causes to equipment issues, driving troubleshooting and taskforces as needed.
- Report and provide feedback to the organization on a real-time basis regarding issues impacting facilities, equipment, and assets across the site.
- Drive and maintain procedural compliance and ensure teams work within the confines of the organization’s EH&S and QMS policies.
- Contribute to CAPEX and CI projects through direct involvement of personnel on key allocated tasks.
- Coach and mentor teams to ensure areas of development are highlighted and progressed.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner.
Skills Required:
- Minimum Degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering discipline or relevant industry experience.
- Experience in maintaining a wide range of process equipment.
- Competence in the use of CMMS systems.
- Knowledge of statistical tools and MS Office applications.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
