Terumo Aortic are currently looking to recruit a Production Planning manager to join our team. The Production Planning Manager is responsible for leading the production planning function at the Glasgow manufacturing site, ensuring alignment with global supply strategies. This role manages a team of planners to translate demand plans into efficient, executable production plans using MRP, while balancing service levels, inventory targets, and capacity constraints. Further, the role plays a key part in the upcoming implementation and optimisation of SAP, as well as improving system utilisation and communication across planning, operations, and commercial functions. It also ensures compliance with relevant quality, regulatory, and environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Production Planners and the Capacity Planner, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Own the development and execution of MRP-based production plans aligned with global supply plans, plant capacity, and material availability.
- Act as the key interface between Global Supply Planning and the Glasgow Manufacturing team.
- Ensure efficient conversion of demand signals into optimized and timely production orders.
- Drive continuous improvement in production planning processes, tools, and KPIs.
- Support the implementation and rollout of SAP S/4HANA, representing the Production Planning function and driving adoption of best practices.
- Increase system utilisation within the planning team; identify and deploy planning tools to enhance visibility, automation, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with Materials Planning, Customer Care, and Manufacturing to resolve scheduling conflicts and capacity bottlenecks.
- Strengthen communication and alignment with Customer Care and Commercial teams to better respond to market priorities, customer needs, and changes in demand.
- Ensure production plans support inventory and service-level targets, including alignment with consignment and loaner stock strategies.
- Ensure planning activities are fully aligned with SAP (or ERP) system best practices and support the global SIOP process.
- Coach and mentor team members, identifying development needs and supporting individual growth plans.
- Maintain a safe planning environment in compliance with company EHS standards; participate in risk assessments and promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable quality and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, MDD/MDR) and address issues within the QMS promptly.
- Support cross-functional or site-level initiatives and other planning activities as required.
Who You Are
- Proven experience in production or supply planning in a complex manufacturing environment (medical device or healthcare experience preferred)
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Solid understanding of MRP, capacity planning, and ERP systems (preferably SAP S/4HANA).
- Experience supporting ERP or SAP implementations in a planning environment would be beneficial
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Familiarity with planning tools and techniques for performance tracking, automation, and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, as well as planning and reporting toolsets
- Desirable: Experience with Power Query and Power BI for data integration, transformation, and visualisation.
