Terumo Aortic is seeking a dynamic and experienced Research & Development Manager to lead our Adjunctive Surgical and Hybrid product groups. This is a pivotal role responsible for driving innovation, supporting product development, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our medical device portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
	- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, technicians, and supervisors.
 
	- Oversee all aspects of product development projects, including planning, execution, resource allocation, and budget management.
 
	- Take ownership of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process for commercial development projects on-site in Glasgow.
 
	- Ensure all new product development aligns with the requirements of the Quality Management System and regulatory standards (ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, MDSAP, MDD, MDR).
 
	- Support the business in sustaining and continuously improving the current product portfolio.
 
	- Report regularly to the business on project progression.
 
	- Drive recruitment, performance management, and development of direct reports.
 
	- Champion Health and Safety initiatives within the R&D department, ensuring compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety regulations.
 
Qualifications & Experience
	- Degree-level qualification (minimum BSc or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline; MSc or PhD preferred.
 
	- Significant experience in the development of Class II/III Medical Devices, ideally vascular devices, with a proven track record.
 
	- Strong interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
 
	- Basic budget planning and financial management skills.
 
	- Understanding of manufacturing processes for Open and Endovascular devices.
 
	- Experience in team development and mentoring is advantageous.
 
	- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks), Excel, and Word.
 
	- Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
